Conference of Professor Eric Grimson at University Autonoma of Madrid (Spain)

Professor Eric Grimson, Chancellor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Professor at Faculty of Medicine of Harvard, visited Madrid the 15th and 16th of December. He was guest in several events held in his honour, among them highlighted the conference he gave at the University Autónoma of Madrid (UAM) – member of EdX consortium since March 2014 –.

On 15th of December, Prof. Grimson participated at a breakfast of the Foro España Innova, which was celebrated at Ritz Hotel (Madrid). This event was organised by Nueva Economía Fórum, sponsored by Asisa and institutional collaboration of the Ministry of Research, Development and Innovation. This ceremony was conducted by the Rector of the UAM, Professor José María Sanz.


The same day, Prof. Grimson was speaker at the Workshop entitled "Innovation in Education" organized by the UAM and Santander Universities. Estrella Pulido, Professor of the Higher Polytechnical School of the UAM, introduced the speakers at the Workshop: Prof. Grimson and Prof. Andrés Pedroza. In this workshop, they offered their point of views about innovation in education and the development of edX platform and UNIMOOC platform.


On 16th of December, The University Autónoma of Madrid was honoured by the presence of Prof. Grimson. There, he gave a conference for teachers and students, entitled "Online Learning: Shaping the Future of Higher Education on and off Campus".

In this conference, he spoke about educational innovation, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and the future of Higher Education.

Professor Eric Grimson, during his visit to the University Autónoma of Madrid (UAM), accompanied by the Rector of the UAM, Professor José María Sanz, and faculty teams of MOOCs that will be offered in February 2015 on the edX platform.
